Date planned for next year, TBD Business and Mentors 9am- 4pm Special Ed Students 10am - 4pm The Arc's West Campus- 2455 5th St SW, Vero Beach, FL 32962 We are currently looking for Businesses, Students with IEP or 504, and Peers, to have a fun and rewarding, job skills day. How It Works: Businesses set up job skill related tasks at spots around the room. Students pick 5 tasks they would like to do and rotate around the room completing tasks. Mentors will help the students when necessary. Businesses are recruited to come to the event and evaluate students and their peer mentors performing a chosen task. Examples: *Restaurant ~ might have silverware that needs to rolled. *Car wash ~ dirty vehicles that need to be detailed. The restaurant would be evaluated on speed, whereas the car wash would be judged on quality Each business will assist in developing the task analysis for their “task”, so that no steps are left out. Peer Mentors between the ages of 14 and 21 are recruited to assist the students with their tasks. *Will be paid a $100 stipend for their time and effort *Will encourage and prompt the student as necessary, during the completion as they rotate through the 5 task tables they have chosen *Will fill out both a pre-event and post-event questionnaire Students with Disabilities age 14 to 21 with IEP or 504 *Must be registered prior to the event *Will choose 5 businesses (tasks) to compete in with their peer mentor *Will rotate through the 5 tasks tables throughout the day *Students will fill out both a pre-event and post-event questionnaire *Tasks will be detailed for each business similar to a “Task Analysis” and posted, so all students are familiar with the requirements The day of the event a table or area will be set up for each business with their associated task. ~The business will be given evaluation sheets ~Students will proceed to each of the 5 tasks they have picked ~At the end of the event, the winners for each task (business) will be awarded ~All students will be acknowledged Contact: By phone: 772.562.6854 or Email:[email protected] |
